About choosing fields 1. Try to do house job with friends. If you do it alone you make make great friends or you may not. My friends and I dropped our merits , changed the choice of our units (only regretted it once) even did less likeable fields but mostly we did it together. That really helped me specially in majors in a big way (in both emotional and social supports) . 2. If you have interest in a field do house job so you can get some perspective. Three of us friends did that a and decided No , Yes and Pretty sure about our prospective fields. (Radio Psych and Eye but not in that order necessarily  :D ) I did Psych even I after being advised against it. And I did it alone. But I didn't regret it. (Even though sometimes being alone really really sucked )  3. Do a fun specialty which you definitely know you aren't gonna do in future. I am assuming everyone is as lost as me, and if you are not then shame on you XD you could have written this blog ages ago for us ;-; So anyways I am  going to try to explain the process of application for housejob (KEMU/MAYO)  It consists of three steps mainly: 1.        Getting a provisional certificate from KE (it a piece of paper used til the degree is issued, stating you graduated from your institute) 2.        Getting a PMDC provisional certification for House job (it states that you can now perform HJ) 3.        Actually applying for the housejob Since I like to utilise my time, I prefer getting all my documents ready in one go. Phone bills, travelling, food and housing are pretty much all that you spend on while you are in USA for electives, and though the following list won’t save you a lot individually but the money saved collectively can help you save a few bucks in your final budget. Housing In general living with someone is always cheaper than getting a room alone. One way to find roommates is to search different Facebook pages like US electives and other forums. Look for any ads related to this, and usually Pakistani residents/elective students do offer temporary residence at nominal costs. PPS, KEMCAANA and Iqbalian house are obviously the cheapest options wherever they are, but they have their own set of problems. AirBNB : Seems to be a bit expensive when you look at the
